What is Mystery
Shopping?
Mystery Shopping is a way for businesses to gauge their customer
service quality. Generally, shoppers go to the business and
act as normal customers, then complete a report evaluating different
areas of the customer service they received. Some assignments require
you to portray a specific type of customer or shopping scenario.
You will be advised when this requirement is needed.
What requirements are there to
be a mystery shopper for Service Connections?
We are looking for people who are professional, objective, detail-oriented,
reliable, and possess excellent writing skills. Access to the
Internet is required to complete shopping evaluations.
Shoppers must agree to keep all information regarding our programs
confidential. Shopper reports and contents are confidential
and shopping experiences may not be shared with friends or family
(unless they attend a shop with you). This confidentiality is
key to our clients’ success and we would not want this
information to negatively affect our client’s businesses.
How
does it work?
Shoppers in our database receive an e-mail once or twice a month
(depending on the location) listing all available mystery shopping
assignments. Shoppers reply via e-mail requesting the assignments
that interest them. The scheduler sorts through the shopper
requests, schedules the assignments, and then sends confirmation
e-mails to shoppers who are awarded an assignment. After a shopper
receives their scheduling confirmation, he/she can access assignment
instructions and report forms via the company website. After
completing the report, shoppers submit an invoice to Service
Connections to get paid for their work.
Do I have to accept every shop?
No. The great thing about our programs is that you can schedule
those shops that are convenient to you. We do expect you to
complete any shop that you agree to take, however.
Is there a limit to how many shops
I can do?
There is no limit, however some programs have restrictions on
the program scheduling. This information will be given to you
when the schedule is posted for each program.
Is mystery shopping a full time
job?
Mystery shopping is not intended to be a full time job. There
are no guarantees as to the number of shops that will be available
to you. There are people who sign up with a number of mystery
shopping companies and therefore increase the overall pay they
receive by mystery shopping.
What kind of businesses will I be evaluating?
Depending on where you live and your willingness to travel,
you may be offered assignments at retail stores, restaurants,
family-oriented amusements, service industries, and homebuilders.
Is there
a fee for becoming a mystery shopper with Service Connections?
No. We pay you – you don’t pay us!
In fact, we offer a shopper referral program. We pay you to find
qualified people to join the Service Connections, Inc. Professional
Mystery Shopper Pool.
Am I an employee?
No. Shoppers for Service Connections are independent contractors.
This means that you are responsible for all tax and insurance
liabilities. Service Connections does not withhold any taxes.
Service Connections will provide a 1099 tax form to shoppers
that make $600 or more a year with us.
How do I get paid?
Shoppers are paid approximately 60 to 90 days after we receive your
compensation invoice. Checks are sent via postal mail to your
address.
How much do I make?
Each program has its own set rate of payment. Currently, our
programs pay from $20-$110 (including reimbursables) per evaluation.
Some programs have reimbursements for expenses up to a certain
amount. You will be able to keep the items you purchase on most
assignments.
Do you share my information with third parties?
No. Occasionally, we do have requests from other mystery shopping
companies who need shoppers in our area. We then refer shoppers
we think will perform well, after asking the shopper’s
permission. You may ask that your information not be shared
with these companies. Your information is never sold to any
third party. We respect and maintain your confidentiality.
How long
have you been in business?
Service Connections, Inc. first began providing mystery shopping
services in 1996. We are proud to be a member of the International
Association of Service Evaluators and have many highly recognized
clients. The majority of our current clients are in Indiana,
Ohio and Illinois, and we are rapidly expanding our area of
coverage.
Who do I contact if I have additional questions?
You may contact our Recruiting Manager at sci5@sbcglobal.net.
Or you may call our toll free office number at (800) 582-8281 and leave a message
on our voice mail.
How do I get signed up?
You will need to complete the online
shopper application and test form in order to get started
in the selection process. The test form is a short, one page
evaluation of your last fast food restaurant experience. This
brief test helps to assure that you can follow directions, and
gives us a good idea of your narrative writing abilities.
Your test form will be evaluated to verify that it meets our
quality standards. Afterwards, we will conduct a telephone interview
so that we can get to know you. You will then be sent a contract
to complete. Once we have received your contract, you will be
added to our shopper database and will be eligible to schedule
shopping assignments with us. Select the button below to begin
the application process. |
